Group Captain Bearman Tobyn Bearman graduated from the Australian Defence Force Academy in 1991 with a Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and has experience in maintenance, flight test, engineering capability management positions in Darwin, Adelaide, Madrid, Newcastle and Canberra.
GPCAPT Bearman is a graduate of the Advanced Systems Engineering Course, RAF College Cranwell and has Masters Degrees in Engineering and Engineering Science from Loughborough College and University of New South Wales. GPCAPT Bearman is a Fellow of the Institute or Engineers Australia.
Career highlights include postings as Commanding Officer and Chief Engineer, Aerospace Engineering Squadron, Aerospace Operational Support Group, Test and Evaluation Manager for the KC-30 acquisition project, Director Logistic Capability for Surveillance and Response Group and Command of the Test and Evaluation Directorate within the Air Force Air Warfare Centre.
GPCAPT Bearman deployed to Afghanistan in 2010 and was embedded in the NATO lead ISAF with the US Army 10th Mountain Division in Regional Command (South) as Chief - Stability Planning and Coordination.
Prior to his current post GPCAPT Bearman Commanded the Test and Evaluation Directorate, RAAF Air Warfare Centre and was Director Logistics Capability and Continuing Airworthiness Manager for the Surveillance and Response Group. He is currently Director Integration and Innovation at the Air Warfare Centre.
